InerziaIcon can import the icon of apps, files and volumes on your computer. There are multiple ways to do so: you can choose the one that suits you best, as they all end in the same result.


You can import any file, including apps, volumes and documents. Anything that has an icon in the Finder can be imported and managed in InerziaIcon.


Import from the main window

To import the icon of apps and files from the main window, follow these steps:

  1. Move your cursor in the upper-left area of the window and click on the "+" button in the toolbar.
  2. Choose "Import Icons of Apps or Files…" from the menu that appears.
  3. Navigate through your file system and select the files you'd like to import.
    • You can select multiple files by holding Shift while clicking to select.
  4. When ready, click "Import" or press Return on your keyboard.
  5. InerziaIcon will now import the files you selected: this operation might take a while and will be represented by a spinning loading indicator in the bottom-left corner of the window.


Import using the menu bar

To import the icon of apps and files from the menu bar, follow these steps:

  1. Move the pointer in the upper-left area of your main screen and click on the "File" menu.
    • Your menu bar might be hidden: to reveal it, move the mouse cursor in the upper part of the screen.
  2. Highlight the "Import" item and then choose "Import Icons of Apps or Files…" in the menu that appears.
    • You can also hit the following shortcut on your keyboard to trigger the same action: command+O.
  3. Navigate through your file system and select the files you'd like to import.
    • You can select multiple files by holding Shift while clicking to select.
  4. When ready, click "Import" or press Return on your keyboard.
  5. InerziaIcon will now import the files you selected: this operation might take a while and will be represented by a spinning loading indicator in the bottom-left corner of the window.


Import using the Welcome window

By default, InerziaIcon shows the Welcome window every time you launch the app. 



You can import the icon of apps and files from the Welcome window by following these steps:

  1. Move the pointer on the first shortcut action called "Import the icons of apps and files".
    • You can click anywhere in that area: on the icon, on the title or on the subtitle.
  2. Navigate through your file system and select the files you'd like to import.
    • You can select multiple files by holding Shift while clicking to select.
  3. When ready, click "Import" or press Return on your keyboard.
  4. InerziaIcon will now import the files you selected: this operation might take a while and will be represented by a spinning loading indicator in the bottom-left corner of the window.
